Pet Heart Care for Dogs & Cats in Rocklin Animal Hospital

Our Services - Heart Care

Heart disease is more frequently diagnosed in pets today due to various issues, primarily because animals are enjoying greater longevity; pet owners are committing to regular veterinary care; and veterinary diagnostic equipment and techniques have greatly improved. This is good news for pets and their owners—pet heart disease can be managed and, in some cases, cured with medication and surgical procedures.

Some of the more common cardiac issues we treat at Rocklin Road Animal Hospital include:

  • Heartworm disease
  • Heart valve problems
  • Arrhythmia or irregular heart beat

Our veterinarians are experts at treating many heart problems in dogs and cats, especially when early detection reveals problems before the animal’s condition has deteriorated.

Symptoms to look for when concerned about heart disease include the following:

  • Coughing
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fluid retention (swollen abdomen)
  • Fainting
  • Bluish tongue
  • Weight loss
  • Out of breath

These symptoms may be subtle at first, becoming more pronounced over time, or they may seem to appear all at once. The annual veterinary exam may even reveal a slow or irregular heartbeat or a heart murmur before the pet owner notices any symptoms at all.

The professional team at Rocklin Road Animal Hospital works with every pet owner through our open dialogue policy to determine the appropriate course of treatment for each individual pet. If you have concerns about cardiac issues in your pet, contact our office to schedule an immediate appointment.
